Two Tamil Nadu Cops Take Bribes Using Google Pay | Chennai news

HEROD: Herod V Sasimohan Police District Superintendent transferred a special sub-inspector and police chief to the armed reserve for taking bribes. The SSI and the police chief were identified as Vadivel, 50, and Chandramohan, 46, respectively. Both were on duty at the Asanur checkpoint on the border between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka on 2 July. They intercepted a car from Karnataka. The duo found bottles of liquor in the car that were smuggled from Karnataka. They released the car without seizing the Karnataka liquor, a police officer at the Herod District SP office said. He also said the duo had accepted bribes from the occupant of the car that was transferred via Google Pay. The SP became aware of this issue following which he ordered a departmental investigation. During the investigation, it was confirmed that the duo had received bribes via Google Pay, the officer said, adding that the duo had also confessed to their crime. The SP said rigorous action would be taken against the duo.
