Samsung’s web version of Smart TV Plus, the company’s free streaming service, has finally launched. The South Korean tech giant has also made the service available on all Chromecast devices to keep more people entertained.

Samsung Smart TV Plus Web Launch

Smart TV Plus was previously limited to Samsung TVs and Samsung mobile devices. According to the protocol, the company launched the web service in the second quarter without any suitable announcements.

Smart TV Plus is the latest addition to the growing list of streaming services and its app is available to anyone and not just Samsung users.

The Verge reported that Samsung refused to comment on the launch of the web service. It’s unknown why the tech giant doesn’t want to advertise the launch of the web version of its streaming service.

The unexpected move could mean that Samsung wants to look for different ways to bring its streaming service to a much wider audience.

Samsung TV Plus was first introduced in 2015 and has been available on Smart TVs since 2016, but launching on additional devices outside the Samsung ecosystem makes it a direct competition to other streaming services such as Peacock, Roku Channel, Pluto TV, or Plex.

Smart TV Plus adds more content

Prior to the web launch, Samsung added more content to its streaming service and expanded it to 10 more countries in April. The Smart TV streaming service is now available in 23 countries.

According to Samsung Newsroom, the TV Plus service is now available in India, Finland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg and Portugal. Users all over the world will be able to enjoy the best mobile app experiences and exclusive art content.

Samsung’s Smart TV Plus has become one of the fastest growing streaming services in the world as it offers instant access to sports, news, entertainment and more. It includes more than 1,000 channels around the world.

Users in India can access the TV Plus streaming service on all Samsung Smart TV models launched from 2017 to 2021.

On March 30, the Samsung TV Plus regional service launched 27 additional channels, including 22 global channels and 5 local Indian channels, including 9xm, Republic and The Q.

Samsung TV Plus App Expansion In addition to the 10 new regions that have been added to the TV Plus service, users can expect a more refined TV Plus app, new Smart TV features, and the launch of arts and lifestyle content on the platform.

The TV Plus app was launched in the United States in 2020 and was extended to the United Kingdom, Germany, India and Canada in April.

TV Plus app users in Italy, Spain, France, Switzerland and Austria are expected to receive the TV Plus app later this year.

The app’s player UI has also been updated, and users can now take advantage of a simpler player bar for intuitive control.

Users can also enjoy more video on demand content for free on their Samsung Smart TVs and download the mobile app.
