The “Bloodborne” demake for PS1 shows Father Gascoigne’s grizzly fighting

The fan-created demake of Bloodborne for PS1 recently showed its recreation of Father Gascoigne’s boss fight.

The only developer working on the project, Lilith Walther, shared the fight on YouTube yesterday (July 13). Father Gascoigne is the second boss of Bloodborne, and was once a very similar hunter to the protagonist.

Walther’s retro version of the fight stays true to the original, including the animation of Gascoigne breathing monstrously before the battle.

The demake also retains much of the movement and combat from the original game, with one notable difference. Bloodborne demake provides players with a button prompt when Gascoigne is offset.

Visually, the demake includes PS1-style visuals, with a soundtrack reminiscent of retro consoles’ reliance on midi-style gear.

Walther has been working on the Bloodborne demake for some time, as he began posting videos in 2017. He has since finished two boss fights, created an April Fool’s joke in the form of Bloodborne Kart, and even has implemented split screen for two players.

Speaking with GamesRadar earlier this year, Walther discussed the development process behind the demake: making an identical copy of Bloodborne with PS1-style graphics won’t work.

Tweaking the designs to make them retro, while remaining true to the PS4 original, Walther added.

Walther is still working on the project, so it’s unlikely to be released anytime soon. However, he confirmed that he will definitely release it.

Fans are still waiting for a Bloodborne remake to arrive on PS5 or PC. The noisy project has been reported and leaked numerous times, though a well-known leaker denied the rumors earlier this year.

Tencent is reportedly interested in buying Crysis and Hunt: Showdown developer Cytek.

The deal would cost up to $ 300 million and would see the company buy the developer and publisher through a European subsidiary.
