TTP plc, an independent British product and technology development company, has opened a brand new dedicated manufacturing facility at its headquarters in Cambridge.
TTP says the creation of the facility, called BuildSpace, comes in response to growing customer demand and is designed to help break down the barriers often found in the relocation phase of production, where lack of flexibility and high set-up costs of big contracts manufacturers can prevent big ideas from becoming reality.
The opening of the new facility is the natural next step for TTP in bringing its customers to market, enabling the transition to low-volume production at TTP and subsequent transfer to high-volume partners. This will expand TTP’s offering to its customers from research and development to clinical trials, manufacturing and first market validation.
It also offers the opportunity for companies that need low-volume production support to engage TTP and reach market faster. This means they can assess their potential success from a much earlier stage, maximizing value to a potential buyer at minimal cost and time.
The opening of BuildSpace will also allow the company to continue creating jobs as it expands its offering for existing customers and attracts new customers, with 12 new positions already created at TTP’s Cambridge base.
The space is completely flexible, providing manufacturing capabilities integrated with the TTP product development process and the ability to meet the needs of its customers. BuildSpace is specifically designed for controlled and clean manufacturing of life science and medical products and consumables.
BuildSpace is one element in a growth plan for TTP which recently entered into a new strategic partnership with Bruntwood SciTech. The two companies are working together to develop a long-term vision for Melbourn Science Park’s future growth as a leading science and technology cluster in Cambridge.
Peter Crossley, BuildSpace Development Manager at TTP, said: This is a really exciting development for TTP and one that will further expand the services we can offer.
We have continued to see a growing demand for integrated manufacturing capacity from our customers. Through the creation of BuildSpace, we want to remove the barriers to great innovation.
BuildSpace gives us the ability to take customers all the way to clinical trials and even initial production. By allowing clients to validate the business opportunity as part of their development journey with TTP, they delivered real value to their businesses.
