NANCY Pelosi was blamed for the security failure at Capitol during the January 6 riot by a GOP representative.

Rep. Jim Banks added that she just wanted to “stick to her story” on Donald Trump.

Banks made the statements during an interview on “Fox News Sunday” in response to Pelosi’s decision to dismiss him from the committee that will investigate the insurgency.

“Due to the rules of the Capitol of the United States, the power structure of the Capitol, Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House, has more control, authority and responsibility over the direction of the Capitol Police than anyone in the United States Capitol, “he said.

“So she doesn’t want us to ask these questions because, at the end of the day, she’s ultimately responsible for the security failure on Capitol Hill that happened on January 6.”

He went on to say that Pelosi had “already predetermined a story about Donald Trump, about Republicans.”

Along with Banks, Pelosi last week dismissed Rep. Jim Jordan, both of Trump’s allies.

“We’re here to get the truth, not to get Trump. The TRU truth. Trump who seems to be what haunts the other side,” she said.

“So, as the law allows, I did not agree to two of the five people being appointed, they had made statements and taken actions that I think would impact the integrity of the committee commission, work as a committee, ”she continued.

“It is extremely serious. It is about our constitution, it is about our country,” she added.

She announced eight members of the committee, including Congresswoman and staunch Trump critic Liz Cheney.

She also told ABC News that other Republicans “have expressed interest” but have not confirmed who or how many GOP members are under consideration.

In a statement, Pelosi explained why she rejected Jordan and Banks’ nominations.

It read: “Out of respect for the integrity of the investigation, insisting on the truth and worrying about the statements made and actions taken by these members, I must reject the recommendations of Representatives Banks and Jordan to the committee. restricted.

In response, Jordan also blamed Pelosi for the security breach and said she should have made sure security was tight.

The House select committee is expected to start its work this week, with the full list not yet finalized.

Four police officers are due to testify before the select committee on Tuesday.

They are expected to testify about their experiences of physical and verbal abuse during the January 6 riots.
