Last night we released a brief reader report on a water pressure issue at Belvidere, with Seattle Utilities advising a customer that it was a problem with the power supply to the pumping station. We followed up with SPU today and learned that the city thinks a thief / vandal is to blame. From Ingrid Goodwin of SPU:
At approximately 7:45 p.m. last night, a power outage occurred at the SPU Scenic Heights Pumping Station, located at 3915 SW Charlestown St. This caused a temporary depression of approximately 1,358 area customers for approximately four hours (see map of the two impacted areas – underlined in purple). Electricians and SPU maintenance personnel were immediately dispatched to the pumping station to investigate the problem. Teams discovered that a plug-in electrical device appeared to have been stolen. It was replaced and power was restored to the pumping station at around 11:45 p.m. SPU is investigating this incident as possible vandalism.
We have a follow-up question asking for more information on the “Electrical Connection Device”.
