Police have arrested a wanted Aurora School teacher in Arizona on multiple counts of conduct and sexual abuse involving a former student.

Officers arrested Mark Lindrud, 49, on Wednesday. Police said he taught at Vista Peak Preparatory School in Aurora and was put on administrative leave.

The Aurora Police Department said in a statement that it was working with members of the Oro Valley Police Department. Detectives from the town near Tucson traveled to Aurora to assist with the arrest, the Arizona department said in a statement.

Lindrud was a high school teacher in Oro Valley from August 2002 to May 2003, Oro Valley police said. He faces 20 counts of sexual behavior with a minor and one count of sexual abuse of a minor, police said.

Lindrud has worked at more than eight Denver-area schools in his 20 years as a teacher, Aurora Police said. The ministry believes there may be victims of crimes involving Lindrud who have gone unreported.

Members of the public can report crimes to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

Lindrud is being held on $ 1 million bail in Aurora jail pending his extradition to Arizona.
