SASKATOON – Defense filed by woman sued for defamation following allegations posted online of harassment during promotional video shoot in Saskatoon
Tiara Jackle is the defendant in the libel lawsuit filed by the Saskatoon group Bombargo and three of its members Anthony and Nathan Thoen, and Spencer Chilliak.
In March, Jackle posted a series of Facebook posts, recounting allegedly inappropriate, predatory and unprofessional experiences during a video shoot involving members of the group.
Jackle’s defense denies that the online posts were libelous and denies all of the allegations in the statement filed against her.
The publications were understood to be part of an international cultural movement, including, but not limited to, the #MeToo movement, which encourages individuals to break cultures of silence by rejecting inappropriate, unprofessional and sexualized behavior by ‘other people in the workplace and elsewhere, “the statement said. It added that the messages were posted in” good faith and without malice. “
In the posts, Jackle described alleged instances of how she believed the men involved in the video shooting were engaging in inappropriate or predatory behavior, including an allegation regarding a model she believed to be “underage”. burst into tears after being asked to “get along” with one of the men involved.
“The whole experience was predatory, with unprofessional misogynistic comments and the pressure to perform on camera in a way that seemed objectifying, overtly sexual and demeaning,” Jackle wrote.
The lawsuit brought by Bombargo and three of its members charges Jackle with libel, intentionally inflicting mental suffering and alleges that his actions resulted in loss of income and the ability to earn income.
The lawsuit says the event was captured by multiple video cameras and two lapel microphones.
After careful consideration, the complainants confirmed that Tiara’s statements were unequivocally false. The plaintiffs further confirm that no underage mannequin was involved in the described event, the lawsuit says.
In the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they suffered “severe anguish, crippling anxiety requiring the intervention of rescuers, humiliation” as well as loss of reputation and income as a result of Jackles’ actions.
Jackles’ defense alleges that the plaintiffs suffered no actual harm or damaged their reputation.
Through a representative, Jackle declined to comment on the matter. His lawyer also declined to comment.
A GoFundMe page started by Jackle to help pay for his defense had reached nearly $ 50,000 by Friday night.
