California now criticized by left San Bernardino Sun

California is a very large state with a complex social and economic matrix and its own political structure, creating an endless stream of analysis and criticism.

In recent decades, when California has turned to the left politically, it has garnered the attention of like-minded media and portrayed the state as a pioneer in the country’s future.

California politicians, such as Governor Gavin Newsom, have supported this concept. “California is what America is like,” he boasted. “California is America’s future attraction.”

Unsurprisingly, the praise from the left wing of the media created backlash from the right wing, which described California as a miserable and unsuccessful dystopia.

But this year the left and right-wing media for jousting in California have shifted in a new direction. Very scathing criticism from experts and publications that are ideally aligned with the deep blue politics of the state.

New York Times columnist Ezra Klein set a new tone in February with an article listing many of the state’s social and economic disparities by birth and choice of California.

“This is a remarkable place where the problems of tomorrow and the solutions of tomorrow compete for superiority,” Klein wrote. “California is the engine of the technologies, cultures and ideas that shape the world, but for this very reason, our governance failure worries me. “

Klein concludes that California claimed to pursue progressive goals, but failed to match the word with effective action.

“California, the largest state in the United States and with full control of the Democratic Party of Japan, has a particular burden,” he wrote. “If progressivism doesn’t work here, why should the country believe it can work anywhere else?”

The Atlantic, a magazine usually filled with progressive and anti-conservative articles, has joined the chorus of left-handed critics in California.

One of Caitlin Flanagan’s recent articles accuses the University of California of withdrawing a standardized test as an entry factor in the name of racial equality.

“I know someone is making a fuss because it’s widely welcomed by managers and faculty,” Flanagan wrote. “In this case, Mark is a low-income black and Latino student in the state, and the new policy helps.”

She says this action only masks the shocking failure of California’s public education system.

California-based Atlantic writer Connor Friedersdorf provides a broader and more rigorous critique of the state in an article titled “California’s Dreams Are Dying.”

Despite many qualities of the state, he writes: “I am afraid of the future of California. The generation that benefited from the rapid rise of California said, “We must strive for future generations to seek happiness as they do. Instead, they take the dreams of California to their graves, betraying the promises the state has made all along. I’m ready.”

California publicly celebrates diversity and inclusion, but Friedersdorf went on to say, “State leaders and residents have closed the door to economic opportunity.

Reflecting Klein’s first screed, Freezedorf said, “The Blue American model faces the toughest stress tests in one of the most secure states, where prosperity is almost uninterrupted. A spectacular execution can be killed by a miserable approach to opportunity. “

Newsom still sees California as “America’s coming attraction,” but writers who share his idealistic leadership have joined writers who have the right to warn the state to emulate the state. Is shocking.
