Superstar sprinter ShaCarri Ricardson was at the center of more controversy this weekend.

The 21-year-old track athlete took to Twitter on July 31 to congratulate Team Jamaica on their historic victory.

Congratulations to the ladies of Jamaica for the panel discussion. Powerful and strong black women dominating the sport, she wrote.

Jamaican Elaine Thompson-Herah became the fastest woman in the world, once again dominating the 100 meters in 10.61 seconds. The record speed earned him a gold medal. Shelly-Ann Fraser Pryce and Shericka Jackson also outperformed in the competition, rallying behind Thompson with silver and bronze.

However, a day before ShaCarri sent her congratulatory message, the sprinter tweeted a simple question to her fans.

Do you still miss me?

ShaCarri was forced to withdraw from the Tokyo Olympics after testing positive for marijuana in June. The devastating news came just one month after his stunning victory at the Oregon Olympic Trials, where the athlete topped the 100m in just 10.72 seconds.

The tweet sparked a wave of mixed reactions from fans supporting Richardson to critics who criticized the Olympic hopeful for seemingly distracting from Team Jamaica.

One user wrote:

You have to humble yourself, go and sit in a corner, and keep smoking honestly. You haven’t touched or attended a track or an international meeting yet and you have all this talk. Smh trusts people who honestly watch athletics and know the sport, you don’t miss it at all.

While another person was intervening:

Come on babygirl; support your sisters and yes we would have loved to see you do your best at what you do, but it doesn’t match your greatness and makes you look mean and ungrateful.

Shortly after the backlash, ShaCarri responded to the enemies.

If you don’t like what I’m tweeting, you can definitely stop following me, she fired back. If you choose to view all of my tweets as petty and shady, then you should unsubscribe by showing your own character, but don’t use my tweets to do so. spend a day.
