Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer on leave after assault allegations

Major League Baseball placed Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Trevor Bauer on seven-day administrative leave on Friday amid the league’s investigation into sexual assault allegations against him.

A woman filed an injunction against Bauer on Thursday, alleging he choked her during sex until she passed out. The restraining order has been granted and Bauer will appear in a hearing on July 23. Meanwhile, Pasadena, Calif., Police are investigating.

Bauer, who has denied the allegations, said through his agents he would not appeal the MLB decision.

The Athletic was the first to report on the woman’s account of Bauer’s assault, which she said took place on April 21 and May 16. He has been accused of harassing women online in the past, according to the LA Times.

Bauer won the National League Cy Young Award in 2020 with the Cincinnati Reds. He signed a three-year, $ 102 million contract with the Dodgers in February. He was scheduled to start Sunday against the Washington Nationals before being put on a week’s leave.
