New England Patriots rookie quarterback Mac Jones is taking off in the NFL. Coming into the fold with a lot of buzz around him, it would be easy enough for Jones to relax and rest a bit on his laurels.
Instead, Jones trains and listens to all the criticism he receives. Speaking to the media on Thursday, he gave a glimpse of what it’s like to be reprimanded by Josh McDaniels.
As Jones indicated, he listens to what the coach tells him. Similar to what Brian Hoyer said on Thursday, Jones makes sure he understands the little things. He soaks up as much knowledge as possible during practice.
“Yeah, I mean the past is the past, but here it’s great,” Jones said. “Jos is awesome. It teaches me exactly what I’m supposed to do, and I feel like I’m trying and starting to get to where we kind of think on the same page, and that’s how it is. must be every day.
“When that’s (about) what I’ve done wrong, sometimes he yells at me, and that’s good because that’s what he’s supposed to do.” Her job is to make sure I do what I’m supposed to do with each room. And for me, it’s just about listening to the message, so what did Josh tell me? OK, I understand. Fix it, and go. Because sometimes I’m hard on myself too, so I can’t fight. You just have to take the message and run with it, learn and keep learning. Every experience is a learning experience, so I kind of want to do it that way. “
As the Patriots head to training camp with some sort of quarterback competition, Jones tries to catch up on this Patriots attack.
