Police arrest doctor for sexual abuse

KATMANDU: Police arrested a doctor from Dhankuta accused of sexually abusing a patient.

DSP Deepak Kumar Rai of the District Police Office, Dhankuta, informed that Dr Raj Sharma, 48, has been arrested for investigation into the sexual abuse case.

A 53-year-old man made a verbal complaint to police last night alleging the doctor sexually assaulted him. Police say the intoxicated doctor mistreated the patient as he went to treat him at night.

“We arrested the doctor after receiving a verbal complaint from the victim,” said DSP Rai, “We are investigating the detention of the accused.”

The patient had a problem with urination. This is why he was mistreated when he went for treatment.

The patient was admitted to the center three days ago. He was released on Monday.

Dr Sharma works at the Subas Medical and Diagnostic Center at Dhankuta-7, Dhankuta.

The police are now questioning the doctor.
