Main Street Mount Holly denies allegations of misuse of COVID grant funds, denies calls to resign from Township Mayor Jason Jones’ board members

In response to the article posted on the online political news site The New Jersey Globe, Main Street Mount Holly claims that all allegations against the organization regarding any misuse of funds from the COVID-19 relief grant New Jersey Department of Community Affairs Cares Act are totally bogus and false. Main Street Mount Holly administered the COVID relief funds in full compliance with the grant regulations and, in fact, paid no one for the administration of the program. To clarify:

All the work that was done was voluntary, no one was paid for their work on this program,

The $ 7,000 originally budgeted for administrative expenses was returned to DCA because Ms. Lamberti volunteered her time, Main Street Mount Holly spent no dollars in administering this program,

Ms Lamberti was not hired or appointed by her husband, Joe Lamberti, but was suggested by another board member who knows her well through similar volunteer projects in the past,

The decision to entrust him with the administration of the program was taken by a grant subcommittee of which Mr. Lamberti was not a member,

Joe Lamberti is not a Mount Holly public servant, he is a volunteer and chairman of the Main Street Mount Holly board of directors,

Main Street Mount Holly successfully, legally and effectively distributed $ 181,000 to twenty-two local businesses in grant funds (not $ 157,297 as stated in the article),

*** zero administration costs

Main Street Mount Holly is also deeply disappointed at the irresponsible actions of Mount Holly Township Mayor Jason Jones, who publicly called for the immediate resignation of two board members over the false allegations. Not a single attempt was made by the mayor or other township officials to contact Main Street Mount Holly board members to inquire into the allegations before publishing the letter and speaking with the press . In his letter to the organization, he directly stated that the Township and Main Street Mount Holly have a healthy working relationship and underscored his appreciation for our past accomplishments in making our city a great place to live. This wouldn’t be possible without the efforts of Joe Lamberti, Christi Lamberti, Kent Pipes, board members and volunteers. The organization believes that our contributions to the city caused Mayor Jones or another township official to investigate further before demanding the resignation of the board of directors, damaging the reputations of organizations and volunteers and undermining the value we bring to the city.
