A Beverly City volunteer firefighter and his wife allegedly sexually assaulted a teenager at their home last month, according to a joint statement from the Burlington County District Attorney’s Office, Beverly City Police.
Luis Morales-Sarmiento, 33, and Katherine Morales-Sarmiento, 22, of Beverly City, have been charged with second-degree and third-degree sexual assault endangering the well-being of a child, said the desk.
The couple were arrested Monday in the office and released Tuesday after their first appearance in Burlington County Superior Court, authorities said.
An investigation was opened after the teenager’s mother reported the alleged assault to police, the office said. Detectives alleged that Luis Morales-Sarmiento, who knew the teenager, invited him to his home and took him to the couples room, officials said. This is where the alleged sexual assault occurred, they said.
Anyone else who may have been a victim is encouraged to call the Major Crimes Bureau’s Special Victims Unit at 609-265-5035 and request a detective.
