Suengril, formerly known as Lee Seung-hyun, appeared this week in a South Korean military court where he was convicted of stealing money and gambling abroad. Most of his gambling frenzy took place in Las Vegas between 2013 and 2017, according to prosecutors.

For example, in 2014, Suengril and his partner Yang Hyun-suk spent over $ 3 million on one session. The two played high stakes baccarat at the MGM Grand. Suengril and Yang go their separate ways once or twice a year.

In South Korea, it is illegal for its citizens to gamble on foreign or domestic properties. In total, Suengril was convicted of nine counts, including that of theft of funds.

Another investigation found that a Seoul nightclub he co-owned was a hotbed of corruption, drug trafficking, prostitution, sexual assault and violence. In a decision, Judge Hwang Min-je asked whether Suengril was unable to discern that payments were made to women for sex.

In addition, Suengril faces a fine of $ 989,000 million. Suengril has denied all of the allegations against him, but the judge is said to have questioned his credibility.
