CHICAGO A Chicago pharmacist has been charged with selling 125 real vaccination cards on eBay, federal prosecutors said Tuesday.

Pharmacist Tangtang Zhao, 34, has been charged with 12 counts of theft of government property. Zhao sold the cards to 11 buyers from late March to mid-April for around $ 10 per card, according to an indictment.

The indictment does not say where Zhao worked but described it as a national drugstore chain. An online profile lists Zhao as working at a South Chicago Walgreens.

Vaccinations against the coronavirus are free, do not require insurance and authorities have said they are safe. They largely prevent serious illness and death from COVID-19.

Any Chicagoan aged 12 and over can now also get the vaccine at home and receive $ 25. Anyone can make an appointment through the program by calling 312-746-4835 or going online.
