Last year, the game Aeon Must Die, featured in a PlayStation showcase, disappeared after a group of former developers accused Estonian studio Limestone Games of unbearable working conditions with endless crunch, harassment, abuse, corruption and manipulation.
The former developers, who quit just weeks before the trailer was shown, said this trailer was created with abuse, manipulation, [and] flight. The people who worked on each shot are no longer part of the company that owns the intellectual property rights. Some were not even paid for their work. The game’s real IP was stolen from the creators via foul play.
In response, Focus Home editors said they would look into these allegations, and this is the last time we heard about the game. Until today, when (as spotted by VGC) the trailer for the game magically reappeared on the Focus YouTube page, as if none of this ever happened.
In response, these former developers now working on the Immortal fighting game released a statement saying:
We, the former developers of Aeon Must Die! are confused and bewildered by the announcement of Aeon Must Die! No legal issues relating to the situation have been resolved and even more have arisen since.
The IP issues are not resolved. The brand of the product does not exist. No publisher investigation was conducted. The work for the trailer remains unpaid. Most of the game’s animations remain unpaid.
Multiple legal attempts at TRUE compromise have come to nothing in the past year.

At the time of publication, the trailer description says Aeon Must Die !, the stylish beat em-up will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2021, ”and stay tuned for more updates from Aeon Must Die! approaching the release of the games later this year, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, suggesting that Focus is simply considering continuing with this game and releasing it regardless the allegations.
We’ve reached out to Focus for more information on the release status, and will update if we have any news.
