Charles Barkley to lead COVID vaccine rally in Birmingham; blames unvaccinated idiots for blockages

Basketball Hall of Famer and Alabama native Charles Barkley will lead a COVID vaccine rally at Legion Field later this month.

Barkley will be the guest speaker at a vaccine rally hosted by the UAB Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Center on August 28 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will feature free drive and walk vaccinations, as well as free t-shirts for the first 300 people vaccinated and food trucks available for purchase.

Barkley turned the event on during an appearance Thursday on the sports talk show The Next Round with Jim Dunaway, Ryan Brown and Lance Taylor.

Next Saturday at Legion Field I can’t believe I’m going back to Legion Field, said Barkley, who played basketball at Auburn and frequently attends the Iron Bowl. I can not wait to see him.

We also have food trucks, said Barkley. We have to feed people to get vaccinated. What the hell is happening ?

Barkley, always known as a colorful interview that doesn’t hold back, criticized unvaccinated, mask-averse people for skipping their usual vacation after the NBA playoffs this year.

Most fun places are locked down due to COVID, Barkley said. And you’ve got these idiots here that don’t want to get vaccinated and don’t want to wear a mask, and they’re making people sick and killing people all over the country, and some of these countries won’t let you go.

Barkley, who is also a basketball commentator for TNT, said he spent his last two summers golfing instead of traveling.

You know I got screwed last summer because of the [NBA playoff] bubble, Barkley said. This summer I’m just getting fucked hard by models who won’t get the vaccine and wear their masks so we can get this thing under control and get back to normal.
