Legendary WWE referee Jimmy Korderas heavily criticizes AEW

Legendary WWE referee Jimmy Korderas was quite critical of AEW and his fans in a recent post on his Twitter page.

Jim Korderas. as he was named to WWE, enjoyed a 22 year long career with the company from 1987 to 2009. Throughout his tenure he was part of many memorable segments. Korderas was in the ring during the incident that led to Owen Hart’s tragic disappearance from Over The Edge,

Korderas regularly voices his opinions on wrestling, especially when it comes to AEW and WWE. In a recent tweet, Korderas called on AEW fans for not accepting criticism of the company.

“I’m always amazed that when I criticize AEW people here lose their shit, but when I criticize WWE, which I do cricket more often,” Korderas wrote. “Just for the record, I want ALL businesses to be successful. Oh good, Canadian Heat Magnet. LOL.”

In a follow-up tweet, Korderas acknowledged that AEW fans buy into everything the company does. But he also argued that in order to attract new fans AEW will need to fix a few things.

Jim Korderas has his own show “Reffin ‘Rant” where he gives his opinion on wrestling topics. During today’s rant, he spoke about the arbitrage issues plaguing AEW Dynamite and how the focus should be on storytelling and selling moves.

“There are issues with refereeing, I talk about it all the time and it continued last night,” Korderas said. “It actually backed off. Instead of tightening the screws, they’ve been completely stripped. In some games, yeah, they’re exciting and fun, but you take away the narrative aspect.”

Korderas made some valid points, which you would expect from someone with their level of experience in the industry. Hopefully AEW “tightens the screws a bit” on officiating and focuses more on in-ring storytelling as much as storylines.
