It’s always confusing at Twitter headquarters. The last example? Danny DeVitos’ verification badge was removed from his account for a few hours on Thursday, to be restored early Friday, letting his 4.1 million followers know that he is indeed the star of Batman Returns and Twins.

Some fans were concerned that Twitter had snatched the blue checkmark from DeVitos for its most recent tweet on August 18, where he offered his support to striking Nabisco workers.

Danny DeVito lost his Twitter verification for tweeting support for Nabiscos employees, while members of the Taliban still have a verification, a fan tweeted Thursday. I don’t need to make a joke because it’s so silly.

Another fan tweeted: DeVito abruptly lost his Twitter verification, following a tweet he made in support of Nabisco workers during a strike. ALWAYS be on Danny DeVito’s side, followed by a blue heart emoji.

You got the idea. But a Twitter representative said Friday morning that TheWrap DeVitos Nabisco’s tweet had nothing to do with his verification missing for a few hours. Instead, DeVito was debunked for a less sexy reason, according to the company: his account didn’t have an email address or phone number on file.

The referenced account was temporarily debunked because the account information was incomplete, the Twitter representative said. Our verification policy that blue badges can be automatically removed from inactive and incomplete accounts, which require a confirmed email address or phone number. We worked with the account holder to confirm the necessary information and account verification has since been reinstated.

The removal and then restoration of DeVitos’ Twitter checkmark comes as it is set to celebrate its 12th anniversary on the platform. DeVito joined us in September 2009 and has sent 7,402 tweets since, or approximately 1.7 tweets sent per day since then.
