Critics don’t seem really blown away by “Aliens: Fireteam Elite,” but many of them found it quite enjoyable. IGN gave the game a 7/10, with reviewer Kyle Campbell praising the game for its wide variety of weapons and skills. However, Campbell found most of the missions a bit repetitive and time consuming.
Tom’s Guide gave the game three out of five stars, with reviewer Rory Mellon celebrating the game’s fun co-op moments and its distinct visual design. Unfortunately, Mellon also felt that the game was repetitive in both gameplay and mission structure. Mellon also rated the difficulty to progress in the game to be poor, resulting in a game that often felt punished even for the lower difficulty.
Game Rant gave one of the lowest scores, one and a half out of five. Joshua Duckworth’s review said, “For a game designed with replayability as a core component, there is no incentive to do so. The extent to which players can customize their characters and classes is limited … and the lack thereof. variety becomes evident throughout all aspects of the game. “
Ultimately, “Aliens: Fireteam Elite” seems like a passable outing for fans of the horror franchise or groups of friends looking to shoot Xenomorphs, but everyone could be better served elsewhere.
