Scottish champions Rangers said on Monday they had identified fans who had abused Furuhashi and banned them indefinitely from all club games.
“To be honest, it saddens me a lot because I was the one who brought him,” Australia Postecoglou said of Furuhashi, who has scored six goals in seven games since joining Celtic from J-League club Vissel Kobe last month.
“Our number one priority is to protect and support the player. He’s a great guy. If anyone ever meets him, he’s such a nice young man and he doesn’t deserve any of that type of behavior that no one else does. does, to be honest.
“It’s not about education and people are more than aware of what’s right and wrong, just be a decent human being and treat people with respect.”
