‘Get a life’: Restaurant owner Lynn defends new vaccination policy against criticism – Boston News, Weather, Sports

LYNN, MASS. (WHDH) – A restaurant in Lynn suffers backlash after deciding to impose a vaccination warrant.

Rachel Miller is the owner of Nightshade Noodle Bar and she says the safety of her staff means the world to her. Concerned about protecting her health, she decided to require proof of vaccination for any client wishing to eat inside her establishment.

We want to see the vaccination card itself, or a photo of it or something that shows how proud you are to receive said vaccine, Miller explained.

After promulgating the new policy two weeks ago, Miller said people on both sides of the issue have expressed their support or dissent very clearly.

We get all of this support that feels like thoughtful letters and support from medical professionals, Miller said.

But she said the verbal harassment, which includes angry phone calls and social media posts, was completely shocking and it made me a little nervous, to be honest.

It was this negative reaction that led Miller to post an impassioned Facebook post on Sunday.

In the post, Miller explained why she created the policy by saying in part, No one wants to feel threatened, by their attitude or the lack of a vaccine, at their job. We all do our best and don’t deserve to feel unsafe or uncomfortable at work. Politics isn’t just about you or me. It is about respect, for all, and about public health.

Those who are not vaccinated will still be allowed to eat outside the restaurant and she said she knows the new policy is good for her staff and for the town of Lynn.

In a message to his detractors, Miller said: Get a life. Find something to do. Direct that energy elsewhere.
