Jen Psaki hit back at Tony Blair’s criticisms of Afghanistan, saying Joe Biden is speaking with the current British leader.

The former prime minister, who sent troops to the country in 2001 after September 11, denounced the US abandonment of Afghanistan and called the withdrawal tragic, dangerous and unnecessary.

But the president’s White House press secretary strongly rejected Blairs’ essay on the issue when she spoke to reporters on Monday.

The President has been in direct contact with Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who is the current leader of the UK, she said when asked about it during her daily briefing.

Mr Blair wrote in the editorial published by the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, that the Taliban’s rapid return to power could leave Western allies in doubt of their strategic will.

The world is now uncertain of the West’s position because it is so obvious that the decision to withdraw from Afghanistan in this way was not motivated by grand strategy but by politics, has t -he writes.

And he said Mr Bidens’ decision to step down was made in obedience to a foolish political slogan aimed at ending Eternal Wars.

He also said the chaos seen in Afghanistan would only bolster the efforts of the jihadists and help China, Russia and Iran.

The Biden administration defended the US withdrawal amid chaotic scenes in Kabul as desperate Afghans and Americans attempted to leave the country after the national government and security forces collapsed.

Biden said in a speech Tuesday that around 70,000 people had been evacuated from Kabul since August 14.

The president said the United States should complete operations by August 31, but asked the Pentagon and the State Department for contingency plans to adjust the schedule, if necessary. .

And he added: Completion by August 31 depends on continued Taliban cooperation and access to the airport for those leaving and without disruption to our operations.

The sooner we finish, the better.
