Lil Nas X is hot on social media.
Just months after Nike and Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF settled a lawsuit against the Lil Nas Xs Satan shoes, which were a modified version of the Nike Air Max 97 with its blood and a bronze pentagram pendant, the rapper wonders what really fueled the outrage he received after Tony Hawk promoted a new skateboard with his own blood in them.
Liquid Death, a canned mountain water company, revealed in a video announcement Tuesday that the blood of legendary skateboarders will be included in the red paint of a new skateboard, Hawk Blood Deck, which is already sold out. Hawk said in the promo video that proceeds from the limited-edition drop will be used to remove pollution and build skate parks in underserved communities.
Lil Nas X wasn’t there for that.
Now that Tony Hawk has released skateboards with his blood painted on them, and there hasn’t been any public outrage, are you ready to admit that you were never bowled over by the blood in the shoes? and maybe you were angry for some other reason? Lil Nas X tweeted on Wednesday.

In March, the artist released his bloody shoes in correlation with the release of his song, Montero (Call Me By Your Name), and the accompanying music video where the rapper tries to seduce the devil. The song eventually debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Oregon-based company Nike took legal action against MSCHF shortly after the shoes were released on the internet for trademark infringement after MSCHF released a limited series of the modified kicks, which sold out. in less than a minute. The sneakers, priced at $ 1,018, quickly sparked outrage online.
A few days after the trial opened, Nike obtained a temporary restraining order preventing MSCHF from fulfilling any further orders. MSCHF said more than 600 orders had already been shipped at the time of ordering.
Nike and MSCHF reached an agreement in April, ending the legal battle. Nike said in a statement that MSCHF will conduct a voluntary recall of the shoes and offer a buy-back program to customers.
