Tyra Banks says “change is difficult”

During a recent panel with the Television Critics Association’s 2021 summer press tour, Banks was asked about the fan who loved former host Tom Bergeron and calls for his dismissal. His message to them is that they should “be mad and watch” the show.

“Watch the show. Like, look. Be angry and watch, ”Banks said.

She added that Bergeron was an “amazing” host, but “a change is needed”, even if it is difficult.

“Change is necessary. It’s so necessary… I was the big change last year, and there is a big change this year [with a same-sex pairing]. And change has to happen. We have to keep evolving, ”Banks said. “And there will be a change where I don’t host anymore, and people will be pissed off, ‘Tyra was so good. Why don’t you bring Tyra back? It’s just the state of the world, and we’re going from there. before.

Banks also said she was unfairly “blamed” for the elimination debacle.

When asked to get used to live television, Banks reminded reporters that she is not new to live television and that is why she was hired by “Dancing With the Stars” .

“I’m not necessarily nervous with live television. I was a little nervous just before going out at the start, but in general I wasn’t really nervous. But I was doing something the show had never done before, which was hosting alone. And so before it took two people to do what I was doing, and I literally get thrown in and have to deal with it all. So it was a challenge, ”Banks said.

She also directly addressed the error last season when she told Monica Aldama and Val Chmerkovskiy they were safe when in fact they were in the bottom two. Fans rose up over it, calling for Banks to be fired from the show.

“Then the famous debacle, I mean, people see my face. … The world seems to me. They don’t understand there’s a whole lot going on, ”Banks continued. “So I take darts and chose to be talented in the entertainment industry. And that’s what the world sees. So the world is angry with talent.

But during this situation, a whole control room gave Banks the wrong information, confirmed executive producer Andrew Llinares.

“I just have to say that Tyra, at the time, was incredibly professional. Because there was a lot going on behind the scenes. She had a lot of voices in her ears because something had happened in the backstage. backstage. And it was amazing how calm she handled it. She was a professional in her own right. And I couldn’t have been happier with the way you handled it. It was amazing, Tyra ” , Llinares said.

Season 30 of “Dancing with the Stars” airs Monday, September 20, 2021 at 8 p.m. EST on ABC. The first two cast members have already been revealed, and the rest of the cast will arrive on “Good Morning America” on September 8.
