MAHWAH, NJ A former Bergen County educator now faces four allegations he sexually assaulted underage students while employed by the Mahwah and Waldwick public school districts.

Three of the four lawsuits were filed against Healy for alleged acts of abuse that took place in the 1980s while employed at Waldwick, but the last of them was filed against public schools in the Township of Mahwah and the nonprofit theater production Small Town and Fancy Players. .

The lawsuit indicates that around 1989, when the anonymous plaintiff was a student at Mahwah High School and participating in a theatrical production presented by Small Town and Fancy Players, Michael Healy was the director of the play.

Upon returning home from a rehearsal, Healy offered to drive the complainant, but quickly ordered him to lift his shirt, then began to touch him and do “oral sex” on the high school student. era.

The lawsuit alleges that Healy “sexually assaulted” the student over the course of four years, and did so during every theatrical production in which the plaintiff participated.

According to a lawsuit against the Waldwick Public School District and Waldwick High School, this was not the first case of alleged sexual abuse by Healy.

In 1987, while Healy was a substitute teacher and cafeteria monitor at Waldwick High, he “cornered” a pupil while the minor was using a urinal in the school toilet.

Further, the lawsuit states that Healy “sexually abused” at least two other Waldwick students. According to New Jersey court records, two other lawsuits have been filed against the district that mention Healy by name.

What emerges from the Mahwah trial is the appointment of another teacher, James Campodonico.

The lawsuit indicates that Healy told Campodonico, who was the choir teacher at the time, that Mahwah’s student was a “vulnerable minor”, and alleges that he admitted to Campodonico that he had “it” sexually abused ”.

Rather than informing the school administration, Campodonico “began to openly flirt with the applicant at school and attempt to have sex with him,” the lawsuit said.

In all cases, the lawsuits indicate that schools and organizations are at least partially responsible for these abuses, alleging negligence and violations of the Child Sex Abuse Act.

But these cases of alleged abuse never stopped Healy from advancing in her career. In addition to his move to Mahwah, Healy was hired as an assistant manager at Maplewood.

However, Waldwick has now filed a lawsuit against Healy over the allegations, saying officials had no knowledge of the abuses and that the alleged abuses were damaging the district’s standing in popular opinion court.

It’s unclear if he’s still an educator in the state, but lawsuits say Healy still works with children.

An online profile seems to confirm this, as a magician for hire based in Boonton.
