The suspended national president of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus has denied the allegation of working against the emergence of a southerner as the party’s presidential candidate in 2023.
According to Secondus in a statement from his media office, those who brought the accusation against him have been ignorant because no single person can decide which area will produce the PDP candidate for 2023.
He also denied the allegation that he did not pay his dues as a party member, adding that those behind the reports were desperate politicians who sought to be relevant.
Naija News recalls that the chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Desmond Akawor, claimed that one of the sins of the party’s national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, was to have rejected the decision of the governors of the South that the next president of Nigeria should come from the South.
It comes after the suspension of Secondus from the PDP as announced on Wednesday by the party’s neighborhood chairman, George Christopher, during the extraordinary meeting at the party’s secretariat in Ikuru town, Andoni.
Christopher said eleven of the 17 executive members approved the suspension of Secondus from the party.
But reacting to the allegation of working against the emergence of a southern candidate, Secondus in a statement Friday via his media assistant Ike Abonyi said the allegation was both ignorant and laughable.
He added that it could have been completely ignored, but for the sake of the innocent members of the public who needed to be well educated, things needed to be rectified.
Prince Uche Secondus’ media office will continue to respond to even laughable speeches due to the danger of allowing disinformation to enter the public space unchallenged.
One such false information being disseminated is the allegation of the President of Rivers State of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Ambassador Desmond Akawor, that Prince Secondus is working against the interests of the South and that he is not has not paid his membership fee to the party.
“We understand the frustration of the anti-Seconus crusaders who have become shopaholics in their desperation to find points with which to use to achieve their despicable goals. “
The media office sees their effort as a case of a bad marketer selling a product, who makes several efforts to convince buyers to no avail. “
Our response is that there is no truth in all the allegations and that the interests of the South will be seriously threatened if it is Ambassador Akawor and his clique who push him, ”the statement said.
