A large protest erupted outside a fraternity in Iowa on Tuesday night to protest an alleged sexual assault that took place at the home a year ago.

Some protesters smashed the windows of the home of Phi Gamma Delta, whose members are commonly referred to as Fijis, at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and others broke into the home, according to KGAN-TV Cedar Rapids , but it is not known if any damage was caused to the interior.

The protest came a day after an online petition with more than 82,000 signatures Tuesday night called for the fraternity to shut down. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln fraternities chapter was suspended last Wednesday over its own allegation.

The Iowa petition claims a sophomore girl was drugged, raped and filmed by fellowship members last September.

“I just think enough is enough,” a student and protester told KGAN who wished to remain anonymous. “This has been going on for too long at universities in the United States. Men get away with sexual violence against women, and we’re sick of it. We are the generation that will stop it. It’s finish.”

The Iowa City Police Department said in a statement it takes “all allegations of sexual assault seriously and investigates them to the fullest extent possible.” However, we cannot comment on online petitions. We encourage anyone who thinks they have been sexually assaulted to contact the Iowa City Police Department, ”KGAN reported.

Fiji executive director Rob Caudill told KCRG-TV Cedar Rapids that the fraternity immediately removed the accused members last September and began to cooperate with the police and the university.
