Have you missed the alarm on your Android device lately? It’s not you, apparently a bug is disturbing the alarm system of Android users who use Google Clock.

If you are one of those who prefer third party alarm apps over Google, then you are on the safe side.

Ratings drop as alarms are missed

A bug is said to be wreaking havoc in the lives of thousands of people … at least that’s what Play Store reviews will have you believe. In fact, users are so furious that they are dropping one star ratings for the app, resulting in its overall rating going down.

Looks like Google Clock understands how dreary Mondays can be and doesn’t ring alarm bells for users of Google Pixel devices and many others who use smartphones made by OnePlus, Oppo.

Several Reddit threads have emerged since the bug was spotted. It turns out that users cannot restore the basic function of the app even after reinstalling it and clearing the cache. Even resetting doesn’t seem to help yet. The bug was first reported by Android Authority.

Google is working to fix the bug

When we tried to reproduce the bug on a OnePlus 7T, the alarm seemed to sound as usual on two instances, as shown in the screenshots below. It is still unclear if users with certain settings are experiencing the issue.

According to Android Authority, the bug can only occur in Do Not Disturb mode or for people who use Spotify tracks as alarm tones. But people are certainly not happy.

The widely used Google Clock comes preloaded in most Android phones and can also be downloaded from the Play Store. Until then, we suggest you download other apps from play store to make sure you don’t miss another working day like Alarmy, I Can’t Wake Up, AlarMon, Alarm Clock for Heavy Sleepers.
