Biden attributes Idaho wildfires to global warming

President Joe Biden has blamed the wildfires that engulfed parts of Idaho and other Western states to global warming, the effects of which he says can only get worse.

Biden made the comments during a panel discussion Monday in Boise, Idaho, where he was briefed on the wildfire efforts by Republican Gov. Brad Little, as well as federal and state officials from the National Interagency Fire Department. Center.

“We can’t keep trying to ignore reality,” Biden said. “President Barack Obama always used to laugh at me and I was like, you know, reality has a way of fitting in. Well, you know, the reality is that we have a problem with global warming, a serious problem with global warming, and that’s a big deal.

“And what’s going to happen is things aren’t going to go back to how they were, it’s not like you can rebuild what they were before. It’s not going to get any better than it is today. “Yeah. It can only get worse, not better. It’s not like we aren’t going to have more problems, but we can do it, in my opinion,” he added.

“It’s not a Democratic thing. It’s not a Republican thing. It’s a meteorological thing. It’s a reality. It’s serious,” he said later.

Biden then pushed his Build Back Better plan, which will provide Idaho with $ 1.3 billion in state tax relief and $ 600 million in local tax relief.

In addition to Idaho, Biden is also expected to visit parts of northern California ravaged by wildfires while touting his spending plan.

Biden’s remarks echo those he made when he recently inspected damage from Hurricane Ida in New York City, New Jersey and Louisiana.

“People, the evidence is clear: climate change poses an existential threat to our lives, to our economy,” he said in New York. “And the threat is there; it’s not going to get better. The question, can it get worse? We can keep it from getting worse.”
