Why some Newcastle fans blame Bruce for Callum Wilson's injury

Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to blame Steve Bruce, after The Athletic claimed Callum Wilson could be out until the end of October.

What is the story?

First, you might be wondering why Bruce is responsible for Wilson’s injury.

Well, it’s the 60-year-old’s fault according to the fans below because he let the 20m forward against Southampton.

Bruce decided not to replace Wilson right away, even after it was clear the 29-year-old was in trouble.

Wilson suffers from a quad issue, which should keep him out for about six weeks.

Of course, the former Bournemouth striker is very injury prone so it could have happened even if Bruce had handled it carefully.

However, it is extremely remiss of the Magpies boss to leave his talisman on the pitch, even after visibly showing signs of discomfort.

As for the Newcastle fans below, it’s Bruces’ fault.

To quickly answer this question, no one.

Newcastle haven’t signed a forward over the summer. Not even Adam Armstrong, who was available at a reduced price due to the clubs selling clause.

Even Salomon Rondon was not signed for free, a deal that Everton ultimately decided to make.

It’s either Joelinton or Dwight Gayle for the role, both of whom are nowhere near as prolific as Wilson.

Even though Rondon was still a free agent, Newcastle are unable to tap into the free agent market as Bruce has occupied all 25 places in their Premier League side.

What a complete and utter mess on Tyneside, where will the targets come from?

The next time Wilson seems to be having a hard time, Bruce just has to pull it off.
