Statement by an NSW Health spokesperson:
There are currently over 1,000 staff working to assist with COVID-19 contact tracing, including Australian Defense Force support.
NSW Health continues to expand its capacity to meet increasing demand. Confirmed cases receive an SMS from NSW Health as soon as a positive result is reported by a private or public laboratory.
This contains advice on keeping the case isolated and on having family contacts tested and isolated. A link to information resources is provided. The text message asks people to see a doctor if they are not feeling well.
NSW Health is following up confirmed cases as soon as possible for clinical follow-up and questioning.
When a high-risk exposure location is identified from the case interview, the QR code information helps identify and inform people who may have been exposed at that location.
NSW Health assesses and helps manage the health of people with COVID-19.
We continue to be deeply grateful for the cooperation of the community in our contact tracing efforts, especially during this difficult time.
