Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has disclosed details of his half-time interview with the team in the dressing room at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium which saw his side win the London Derby 3-0.
After a goalless first half with no shots on target, the visitors returned to the pitch in a completely different outfit and claimed a victory over Tottenham thanks to goals from Thiago Silva, NGolo Kante and Antonio Rudiger.
It continues the Blues’ exceptional form not only this season, but playing away from the Premier League at Tottenham, having won the last three clashes.
Chelsea are one of only three teams to have lost in the Premier League yet this season, along with Liverpool and Manchester United.
Now manager Tuchel has detailed his critical discourse on the team during the half-time that marked the turning point and secured the Blues their fifth league win of the season.

We spoke about it clearly at half-time, said the German. I was absolutely not satisfied with the first 45 minutes. There were excellent individual performances in the first half from Kepa and Thiago Silva
Even more players were good but in general we lacked intention, energy and relentlessness in the duels and 50-50 balls.
“I had a feeling we wanted to impress with pure skill, but in derbies like this it’s not always all about skill. It’s about aggressiveness, winning duels and performing better as a team. In the second half, it was a very good performance and a deserved victory.

The Blues were immediately in control from the start of the second half after Thiago Silva opened the scoring count four minutes after the restart, after passing Spurs striker Hugo Lloris from a Marcos Alonso corner.
French midfielder Kante proved to be a brilliant second-half replacement and added a second total goal eight minutes later, his first league goal in 49 appearances.
German defender Rudigers shot into the bottom corner in stoppage time was the final nail in the coffin for Tottenham, whose defeat propelled the Blues to the top of the Premier League table alongside Jurgen Klopps Liverpool.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side only managed two shots on target throughout the game and struggled to gain momentum after falling behind, while no Premier League side have managed more of shots on target as Chelsea against Spurs, all 10 occurring during the second half.
The victory comes on top of Tuchels’ exceptional record as Chelsea manager since replacing Frank Lampard in January 2021, with a winning record of almost 65%.
Another statistic to note is that since the German arrived at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea have kept 23 clean sheets; 19 from last season and four in the current season, which is the most guarded by all clubs in Europe’s five big leagues.
The Blues are back in action on Wednesday in the EFL Cup at home against Aston Villa ahead of arguably their toughest game yet as they host Pep Guardiolas Manchester City.
