The district administration will form a commission of inquiry to investigate allegations of sexual misconduct and caste-based discrimination brought by three female conservation workers against the Kangeyam municipal commissioner on Wednesday.

Sources within the district administration said District Collector S. Vineeth had received the complaint and that a committee would be formed soon.

According to the petition submitted by one of the three women, she was working as a Temporary Domestic Livestock Controller (DBC) under the direction of City Commissioner Mr. Muthukumar. The woman claimed in the petition that the commissioner sexually harassed her at her home and used caste insults. The petition further claimed that two other DBCs in the municipality had also been sexually harassed.

The petition was also addressed to Minister of Information and Publicity and MP for Kangeyam, Saminathan, Minister of Housing and Urban Development S. Muthusamy, and the Special Cell of Chief Ministers.

When contacted, Mr Muthukumar denied the allegations and called them reasoned. About 40 temporary CBDs, including the three women, who worked in the municipality, were told not to come to work because they were misnamed and the allegations were made following the move, he said.
