To surrender Bagram Air Base and operate from Kabul was an outsized ignorance. Bagram was a secure military base with a perimeter of several kilometers. The perimeter of Kabul airport is only about one city street at one point. Bagram had two leads against one for Kabul. Bagram had a lot of air power to support himself. There is none for Kabul. In Kabul, American troops were basically put in a corner.
Biden has banned American troops from taking to the streets or outside of town to rescue Americans. There was one brainless decision after another.
The Taliban made Kabul look like downtown Minneaplois in a matter of days. The Taliban quickly took control of Kabul and Biden was on his knees, kissing the Taliban’s hand and begging them to provide refuge for the Americans. It was an epic humiliation.
With the Taliban providing security, 13 Americans lost their lives and hundreds more were stranded behind enemy lines. You don’t make deals with terrorist organizations. The Biden administration then packed its bags and left Afghanistan, leaving American citizens and their American allies at the mercy of the Taliban. Biden then had the audacity to call this evacuation a “success”.
Leaving Afghanistan is not the problem here. The chaotic and bloody exit based on Biden’s incompetence is the assertion. Biden also left over $ 80 billion in military equipment. Terrorists are now armed to the teeth. Taliban death squads were on the prowl, and the deserted Biden Americans lived in absolute terror.
Frankly, I don’t think this president can last any longer. To borrow the words of Sir Winston Churchill, “This is only the beginning of the accounts.”
