Kurukshetra, October 3

Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said today that the BJP government has failed to ensure a smooth paddy supply and farmers are being harassed in grain markets.

He also said that if elected to power, Congress would end the Meri Fasal, Mera Byora portal.

The former CM was addressing the media after visiting the Ladwa, Pipli and Thanesar grain markets in Kurukshetra. He was accompanied by MP Ladwa Mewa Singh and Congress leader Ashok Arora.

Do not get a pass: BKU to farmers

The government reduced the productivity per acre of paddy from 33 quintals to 25 quintals. We have asked farmers not to get a pass until the quota per acre is increased. – Rakesh Bains, BKU leader

Hooda said: “The government of Haryana has failed to ensure a smooth supply of paddy. A large number of farmers sold their produce at lower prices due to delayed supply. The supply should start from September 15th as the hybrid varieties mature early. Farmers are harassed on behalf of the portal (Meri Fasal, Mera Byora) and higher humidity.

“There was no portal system during the congressional regime and farmers easily sold their crops at grain markets. If voted in power, the Congressional government will end this portal system. The Punjab produces more grain, but it does not have a portal system, ”he said.

The opposition leader said on top of that the prescribed productivity per acre of paddy last year was 33 cwt per acre, but this year it has been reduced to 25 cwt per acre. The government is expected to buy the entire crop from MSP.
