Kelly Stafford denounces “shameful moms” for excessive criticism

Kelly Stafford has a message for Instagram connoisseurs.

On her podcast, “The Morning After Kelly Stafford,” the mother of four and wife of Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford became emotional as they discussed the criticisms she is receiving on social media.

It sucks to be a parent right now when there’s so much pressure, she says. You have to do it perfectly or someone is going to say something.

Along with her mother, Leslie Hall, on the show, Stafford berated social media users for shaming famous parents online.

It’s called mum’s shame, the 32-year-old said.

Famous moms like Kristin Cavallari and Amy Schumer have addressed this specific social media crowd, asking their followers to mind their own business.

Stafford recalled two situations online that she said went too far.

I went out and said I used formula with my last milk because I was miserable trying to pump and take care of the kids, and I was crushed for that, a- she said.

A few years ago, viewers criticized the model and actress for improperly buckling her child’s car seat.

We weren’t even leaving and someone was like, they weren’t strapped in properly, you have to tighten the clip, she said. It was like, woah, ok I get it, but we weren’t even withdrawing from our neighborhood.

Hall compared the experience to his as a parent in a world before everyone else shared it on social media.

We didn’t have to deal with all of this because we didn’t have social media so no one was judging or looking at us, she explained.

Stafford recognized the pros and cons of being a famous mom online.

We have so much knowledge now about the welfare of our children and things like that which is great, but I also sometimes think ignorance is bliss, ”she said. “I think the pressure on parents right now to do everything perfectly is insane.

Kelly and Matthew moved to Los Angeles from Detroit following a successful trade between the Lions and Rams last offseason.
