Norwich City: Hanley and Giannoulis respond to ncfc criticism

[ad_1]

Norwich City defenders Dimitris Giannoulis and Grant Hanley have proven their mettle against Burnley screens following criticism at the start of the season.

The two were influential in a 0-0 Premier League draw in Turf Moor after a difficult campaign opening. City boss Daniel Farker recently launched a fierce defense of his captain, after some rocky league and cup displays, while Giannoulis’ previous flight start was in August.

Farker replaced the Greece international with Manchester United lender Brandon Williams, after 45 minutes of testing at Manchester City, where his defensive work fell short.

But there have been no complaints from Burnley, and the Canary Islands chef wants the same when the couple return from international duty.

Excellent performance from Dimi, he said. He made a few mistakes in the first few games due to his defensive positioning. He had to wait for his next chance but in the future he was excellent and so important in helping us develop our game.

“Good movement up front and solid in terms of defense.

Grant was a rock when the centers entered. He also had to deal with a lot of criticism in previous matches, so many compliments for this performance. Our team was fully engaged, full of intensity.

City certainly withstood the physical barrage, with Hanley surviving one of two first-half penalty calls involving MatejVydra for fans and angry home players alike.

NCFC Supplement: Norwich City Q&A

Clarets chief Sean Dyche then ruled that his team had been denied a free kick.

Sean always talks about not giving soft penalties and you get the feeling that every time a Burnley player falls there is a demand for a penalty, Farke said. He has a very smart and experienced team who know they have to use their fans to get behind a referee’s back.

“For me, those incidents were far from a penalty. But if the referee maybe feels he needs to fix a call, you’re worried he’ll give it away, but he hasn’t lost the courage.

“If there was a question in any of these incidents, you can be sure VAR would have advised the referee to take a look.

It was a difficult match for the referee in a spicy atmosphere, with groans from supporters. But I’m not complaining about Burnley’s behavior. That’s what a smart team should do – try to get a penalty in certain situations.

“I was quite happy that my players did not lose their cool.
