The warm interaction between the musicians has sparked controversy online, with many being disappointed with Lizzo’s behavior towards Brown, as he has been accused on several occasions of violence against women.

His ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran, who began his intermittent relationship with Brown in 2011, got a permanent injunction against him in 2017 after submitting evidence, including text messages from Brown threatening to “beat the shit” out of her. , to the judge. Tran alleged that the singer physically assaulted her and threatened to kill her, according to The Daily Beast.

Brown denied Tran’s claims and said he was the one who needed a restraining order, Complex reported.

And in 2009, Brown pleaded guilty after being charged with felony assault following a heated argument with his then-girlfriend Rihanna before the Grammy Awards. He was sentenced to five years’ probation and 1,400 hours of community service.

So, seeing Lizzo greet Brown with open arms on Saturday surprised many of her fans.

Others have defended the Grammy-winning singer, pointing to other high-profile artists, including Drake and Justin Bieber, who have collaborated with Brown and publicly supported him in recent years.

To single out Lizzo while supporting other musicians who work with Brown, they believed, is unfair.
