The State Department said Thursday that some of the manifestos allowing Afghan refugees to enter the United States were not accurate and blamed private rescue efforts for the inaccuracies.
“There have been several instances in which private entities have chartered planes to transport people out of Afghanistan where upon arrival at transit destinations revealed that many passengers were in fact not eligible for relocation to the United States, “State Department press secretary Ned said. Price told reporters.
“In some cases, despite our best checks and controls to the best of our ability, the manifests were not accurate,” he added.

Price did not comment on the number of manifestos believed to contain inaccuracies, and the State Department did not immediately return the questions to Fox News.
The press secretary said the inaccurate manifestos not only pose a logistical challenge, but affect the United States’ relations with partner countries, helping to facilitate the evacuation from Afghanistan.
“When that happens, it puts arrivals in a very difficult situation, it puts them at risk without a plan to relocate to the United States,” Price said. “It can hurt bilateral relations when it comes to landing in a third country and it is more difficult for the US government to rely on partner countries to help with future relocations outside of Afghanistan.”
The price comments follow several weeks of evacuations of Americans, Afghan allies and refugees following the collapse of Kabul at the hands of the Taliban.

By the end of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan on August 30, the US had evacuated more than 124,000 people from the Taliban-controlled country. Partner countries helped facilitate flights and processing centers before those eligible for resettlement could then fly to the United States
It is still unclear whether ineligible people seeking resettlement have actually made it to the United States or what the procedure is.
Price said the United States is still working to get an unknown number of Americans out of Afghanistan.
The press secretary said the number of Americans seeking to leave the country is “static” and difficult to definitively quantify.
“The number of Americans remaining in Afghanistan is a dynamic number. We said a few weeks ago that the number was around 100,” Price told reporters. “Since then, several dozen Americans have left Afghanistan.

But Price said he couldn’t say for sure that fewer than 100 Americans were still looking to leave, as others showed up asking for help from the State Department.
The State Department said it would continue to work with the Americans and Afghan allies to evacuate the individuals if they chose to leave.
