Fans Respond to Fraud Allegations Against Former Grizzlies Legend Tony Allen FOX13 News Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Former Grizzlies legend Tony Allen has been charged with fraud.

According to an indictment, Allen and 17 other former NBA players are accused of being involved in a $ 4 million healthcare fraud scheme.

The news surprised some of his biggest fans.

Oh yeah, he was a good guy, he loved watching him play. My God, I hope that’s not true, Tyson said.

I’m surprised because he’s a multimillionaire, fellow fan Kennen Brooks said.

Community leaders like Richard Graham were also shocked. He’s the Executive Director of Juvenile Intervention and Faith-Based Monitoring or JIFF.

It is an organization that offers intervention alternatives to the detention of minors.

Graham said Allen contributed to their karaoke fundraising event for several years.

Tony has a big heart for young people, especially young people who are trapped in the trauma and anxiety of growing up in the inner city with the challenges they face, Graham said.

Graham said Allen took the time to meet the young people, which impacted their lives.

He said that despite Allens’ accusations, he will be remembered for his contributions to JIFF.

All I know is that he was a great community partner not only for JIFF but also for other organizations in town, Graham said.
