The Dodgers didn’t come out with the same fire and fury that drove them to the victories in September. On a cold Friday night in San Francisco, the Los Angeles Bats fell silent and lost Game 1 of the Division Series.
Logan Webb eliminated the Dodgers for 7.2 innings and allowed just 5 hits. He struck out 10 batters and allowed no walks. Meanwhile, the Giants took off and quickly took the lead over Walker Buehler.
After the game, Buehler spoke about the dragging offense and his role in it. The Dodgers pitcher took all the blame for giving up the lead early and sucking air from the canoe right out of the gate.
It’s up to me to try to create momentum. I kind of sucked this out of our canoe. This game is on me
Buehler gave Buster Posey a 2-point shot in the first set. From that point on, the Dodgers offense went completely silent. They were shut out by Webb and were knocked out 11 times in total throughout the game.

To his credit, Buehler settled in and kept the Dodgers in the game. He finished with 3 earned runs and struck out 5 Giants while allowing 6 hits. And while he may try to take the blame for this one, it’s hard to ignore how badly the offensive has failed.
Next, the Dodgers will face Kevin Gausman in Game 2. He will face Julio Urias in a game that could potentially decide the series if Los Angeles were to fall again.
