Emenike Nmeregini, the publicity secretary of the PDP in the states section, announced to Owerri in a statement on Saturday, October 9, 2021.
He said officials in the government led by Hope Uzodimma had repeatedly claimed that the opposition party sponsored insecurity in the state.
He added that the allegations against the PDP were aimed at preventing the opposition party from holding the ruling government accountable to the people of the state.
The party also said the wave of violence in the state portrays the lack of capacity of the APC government to protect the lives and property of the state’s residents.
He said Uzodimma should be reminded that PDP leaders are law-abiding citizens who recognize the welfare of the state’s people as a top priority, as demonstrated by the short-lived government Rebuild PDP led by Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
Therefore, the leaders of the PDP can never engage in actions that could endanger the safety and the lives of the Imolites.
As a virile and credible opposition party, Uzodimma must be told that no measure of intimidation and repression can prevent Imo PDP and its leaders from defending resolutely alternative points of view and holding it accountable to the people. as provided by law.
The PDP is not unaware of the serial attempts by the Uzodimmaled government to politicize insecurity in the state in the face of the credibility and legitimacy with which it has had to contend.
But we must warn of the dangers of seeking to politically profit from state insecurity for selfish reasons.
