Constable Kynam Moore, Nottinghamshire Police Department, said: Police officers and colleagues from other emergency services work so hard, day in and day out, to help and protect the communities they serve.
“It just shouldn’t be considered part of their job to be assaulted or abused.
Nottinghamshire Police and their partner services will not tolerate assaults on rescue workers and take a zero tolerance approach to all forms of hate crime. We take these reports of this nature very seriously and will take strong action against anyone who engages in such heinous behavior.
Nottinghamshire Police are calling on people to speak out against hate crime in all its forms as an annual national awareness campaign kicks off today (Saturday 9 October).
The force is working closely with its partners, including Nottingham City Council, to organize a range of activities in support of National Hate Crime Awareness Week.
These include educational conferences and online events, available throughout the county, explaining what a hate crime is, why it’s important to report it, how to report it, and what support is available.
