Influencer and NFL player face racist abuse over interracial marriage: it still exists

[ad_1]

Allison Rochell, a TikTok influencer who married Indianapolis soccer player Isaac Rochell earlier this year, shared racist comments she received on Instagram following a post about her interracial marriage ago three weeks.

In the 10-second TikTok video reminding that it still exists, Rochell shared comments such as abomination, vile, say NO to interracial marriages, and burn the coal by paying the toll.

Burning coal is a derogatory term for white women in relationships with black men.

Some hateful comments included references to ending her lineage status and erasing a lineage, while others chose to remind her of her European ancestors or claim that the mixing of races is communism and that her children will be very dysgenic.

The video has been viewed over 457,000 times.

However, Instagram users also pushed back against the racist comments and gave the couple their support.

[You] all of them are so cute, and those comments are horrible, I’m so sorry, wrote one user on Ms Rochells’ Instagram post.

This comments section is really horrible, I just spent the last 30 minutes reporting accounts, another person commented as she urged others to do the same.

Some of these comments are really awful, I’m so sorry you have to deal with this. You are a beautiful couple, I love your tik toks, another user wrote.

More than 150 years after the abolition of slavery in the United States, racism continues to impact black people. Nearly eight in ten black adults believed that much more needed to be done to ensure equal rights for Americans of all racial and ethnic backgrounds, according to 2021 research by Pew. About 58% said that in order to achieve this, the laws of nations and great institutions must be completely rebuilt as they are fundamentally flawed.

Among white adults participating in the survey, about 42% felt that much more needed to be done to ensure racial equality.

About 64% felt the United States has made little progress on the issue in the past 50 years, while 56% of white adults said the United States has made a lot of progress on the issue of racial inequality. .
