Mr Shanks ‘attorney, Philip Strickland, SC, said the police attempt to remove the videos and prevent his client from commenting on Mr Langkers’ case was fundamentally flawed.

Mr Strickland said one of the videos targeted by police focuses on the arrest of Mr Langkers by the Fixated Persons Unit, an arrest criticized by various figures including politicians.

It is the police who want to end the criticism of the police, Mr Strickland said. This amounts to an abuse of process, in my opinion.

The magistrate said the police request was clearly flawed in its current form and gave the police a week to amend and resubmit it. She ordered the police to pay the costs of Mr Langker and Mr Shanks for the Wednesday hearing.
