Stakeholders from the nine states of the Niger Delta region sent a protest letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, blaming the allegation of perjury against the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, and calling the petition frivolous, laughable and open dangerous policy ahead of the 2023 game.
According to stakeholders made up of civil rights activists and ex-agitators in the region, preliminary investigations into the alleged petition and allegations of corruption against Chief Timipre Sylva and Engr. Simbi Wabote has shown that the signatories were ghosts used by some corrupt politicians against the achievements recorded by President Muhammadu Buhari in the nation’s oil and gas sector over the past six years.
Niger Delta stakeholders under the aegis of the Niger Delta APC Youth Vanguard with the coalition of ex-agitators under the group of the Niger Delta Advocate for Peace and Good Governance, argued that the allegations were false and should be ruled out.
Today we can categorically state here, without mincing words, that the ignorant and false allegations have been prepared and doctored by a group of criminal elements who are devoid of ideas and do not know that it is no longer like usually in oil nations and the gas industry, they said.
Led by the National Coordinator, Comrade Fiawei E. Pathfinder; deputy coordinator, comrade Bekes Apere; secretary, comrade AK Peters; General Peres Ayama; Gen Kingsley Tamaramienye and others, they said those behind the alleged petition were unaware that President Muhammadu Buhari’s current administration has gone beyond the era of using groups non-existent to blackmail government officials and the use of a false name of Ahmed. Yusuf will not push the sound policies of the current administration into turmoil as expected.
The group also condemned the attempt to indict the executive secretary of the Nigerian Content Development and Oversight Council, Engr Simbi Wabote, with alleged involvement in corruption allegations involving Saipem’s train 7 NLNG project.
