“People confuse a lot of these things”

Carolina Panthers left tackle Cameron Erving already has the title and defense of the year. You remember those Carolina Christian McCaffrey, don’t you?

Well, he’s racing in his own right.

During his press briefing on Thursday, Erving was asked if he is able to silence the noise of fan criticism, now and before in his career. With the Panthers currently on a two-game losing streak and the offensive line being a particularly big target for the backlash, the seventh-year veteran looks unfazed.

“Being in the NFL for a while now, you just manage it,” Erving said. “For me, personally, I don’t really do social media during the season or stuff like that. People confuse a lot of these things. They think football is real life. But they don’t understand who we are in real life.

So they can say whatever they want on the screen or on the monitor, whatever. But nine times out of 10, these same people would see us, they would ask for a photo or an autograph. That’s just how you put things in perspective.

As with any failed Cleveland Browns first-round pick in recent memory, negative comments have likely found Erving once or twice in his professional career. However, he won’t let any of that get in the way of what the Panthers are currently building.

“Everyone in this locker room understands that we have to go out with a sense of urgency. And that we have to go out and that we have to do better than we have done, ”he added. “And everything else that comes from the outside in, that’s what it is. You just ignore it. We laugh at a lot of these things.

Erving and Carolina will be looking to get the last laugh of the week when they host the 2-3 Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. And if they don’t, don’t “@” Cameron, because he won’t see it anyway.
